The whole world is currently fighting the coronavirus and it affects mainly the everyday life\u00a0of all people<\/strong>. Everywhere, the effects of this pandemic and governments measures are hitting\u00a0people hard.<\/h4>\n\n

At intombi, we are in close contact with our project partners in Rwanda and South Africa,\u00a0because the virus is hard on the population there too.<\/strong> A lack of financial resources and poor\u00a0hygiene make it almost impossible for people to contain the pandemic, which is now having\u00a0devastating consequences for the already weak population.<\/h4>\n\n

True to our intombi motto \u201cGirls for Girls\u201d, we are there for each other in this difficult time\u00a0too<\/strong> and would like to help those who especially need our support right now. You and us –\u00a0together we can do a lot for girls on site. Enabling hygiene and sewing masks \u2013 resuming to everyday life in a protected way in Rwanda<\/h2>\n\n

We at intombi have long been connected to the East African country<\/strong> of Rwanda<\/strong>. There, we\u00a0have had the goat project<\/strong>, among other things, since 2015, with which we support the local\u00a0girls in their start into a successful future<\/strong>. But in times of the corona crisis, exactly this future\u00a0is endangered, especially there. That is why we want to work with you to accompany and\u00a0protect<\/strong> the girls through this time. Our local staff member, Fabiola (25 years old, from\u00a0Mubuga)<\/strong> and a girl from our local girl group, Ruth (18 years old)<\/strong> tell you about the situation\u00a0in Rwanda. But above all, they tell us exactly how we can work together to make the girls\u00a0strong<\/strong> right now.<\/p>\n.\n

The biggest challenge is hunger and the lack of protection<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

The situation in Rwanda is very tough for many people, especially for the already poor\u00a0population,” reports Ruth. Because with the nationwide lock-down<\/strong>, which has been effective\u00a0since the beginning of March, all work that is not absolutely necessary for survival was\u00a0stopped immediately. Everything remains closed<\/strong> except grocery stores, hospitals and alike.\u00a0\u201cThere are more and more homeless people and people without food<\/strong> because their jobs have\u00a0been stopped or they have been dismissed and they have no more money to support\u00a0themselves or their families. Many have been trying to get to the capital Kigali in the past few\u00a0days to find jobs, but there is no work there either,\u201d Ruth explains.<\/p>\n.\n
