Today\u2019s the day! I \u2013 Alex \u2013 make the beginning. Matching the offer, I would like to tell you a story about me and my experiences with it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quite a lot of home hanging put on the couch with lots of series, some homework and in between meeting some friends. That\u2019s how it used to look for me in the afternoon after school. Dies that look familiar to you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later, when I was a student, I discovered a totally cool little youth center \u201cFischo\u201d very close to me, where I also worked. I was a bit annoyed that I didn\u2019t pass by earlier \u2013 because here I could have been hanging out on the couch with a few others. And here there was a lot more to discover and try out: From table football, billiards, video games to support with applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that\u2019s what it\u2019s all about today: <strong>youth centers<\/strong>! And especially girl groups in youth centers.\n\n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-infobox infobox\"><h3>What does a youth center offer you?<\/h3>\n<p>A youth center is a meeting place where you can meet your peers, spend time together and take part in various activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s an open meeting where anyone can come by. Usually there is a social worker in site as a contact person with whom the visitors can chat about topics that they don\u2019t want to discuss with friends or parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What can you do in youth centers?<\/strong>\n\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Meeting friends and chat<\/li><li>Playing table tennis, darts, billiards or table football<\/li><li>Chill and just do \u201cnothing\u201d for a change<\/li><li>Surf in the internet<\/li><li>Take part in cool activities such as cooking classes, guitar workshops, dance workshops and much more<\/li><li>Be creative, such as painting or handicrafts<\/li><li>Watch movies and play video games<\/li><li>Bringing in your own ideas<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What would you like to try out?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>And how does that look in practical terms? As an example, I would like to present to you today the \u201cOffene T\u00fcr Qu\u00e4ker\u201d from Cologne. <strong>Charlotte, Sophie and Amina<\/strong>, who regularly visit the youth center, help me with this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-infobox infobox\"><h3>Youth Center \u201cOT Qu\u00e4ker\u201d<\/h3><span><p>Hello!<br>We are Charlotte (11), Sophie (11) and Amina (10). We belong to the girls\u2019 group in the youth center, i.e. \u201cOffene T\u00fcr\u201d of Qu\u00e4ker Nachbarschaftsheim e.V., near the citizens\u2019 center in the city center of Cologne.<\/p><p>That\u2019s how we do it:<\/p><\/span>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>We meet on Tuesdays at 2:30 pm<\/li><li>At the beginning of each girls\u2019 group we do a smiley round. We\u2019ll tell each other what\u2019s new \u2013 it can take some time!<\/li><li>At the beginning of every school year, or just like that, we make a list with Laura, our caregiver, of everything we would like to do in the girls\u2019 group. There\u2019s always a lot that comes together, for example:<ul>\n<li>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hjgAwyZhQi4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Slime (\u00f6ffnet in neuem Tab)\">Slime<\/a>&nbsp;\ud83d\ude09 \ud83d\ude09 \ud83d\ude09<\/li>\n<li>Baking muffins<\/li>\n<li>Do some handicrafts<\/li>\n<li>And chilling is not to be missed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why don\u2019t you come over sometime? There are groups of girls in many youth centers. Why? Because a much larger proportion of visitors to youth centers are often boys. Youth centers try to create an attractive and suitable offer for girls through a specific offer only for girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-infobox infobox\"><h3>Girls\u2019 group in the youth center<br><\/h3>\n<p>\u201cIt is important to me that the girls\u2019 group is a place where all girls feel at home. You are allowed to be yourself here and are invited to bring in topics that move you. We meet with openness and listen to each other. All girls are encouraged to stand up for themselves and their interests within and outside the girls\u2019 group\u201d Laura, Social Pedagogue of OT Qu\u00e4ker<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Laura, Social Pedagogue of OT Qu\u00e4ker<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Now go to the youth center!??<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>All right, this all sounds great!! But honestly, even if I had known about the youth center near my home and the great offers, I might not have dared to go there. It is already an overcoming to go into a group of strangers, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That was quite a long time ago and I am normally not afraid of foreign groups anymore. Here are two tips from me on how to overcome this \u201cfear\u201d of foreign groups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Focus on the interests! <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You are interested in the activities of the group? Then it will be easy for you to find an entry into a first conversation. Maybe you\u2019ll be able to figure out a few questions you can ask at the beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Give it a chance! <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Do not waste too many thoughts on what could happen if you dare to join the group. Just do it and go! If it doesn\u2019t turn out the way you expected, you just don\u2019t go back. But is was certainly worth a try and there is a great chance that it will be super cool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And here is some motivation from Sophie and Laura for you: Maybe the girl group of the \u201cOT Qu\u00e4ker\u201d in Cologne is something for you? And if you live in a different place, there\u2019s certainly a youth center as well \u2013 because it\u2019s almost everywhere.
